OUT AND ABOUT SIGNING IN BRISTOL 2007 At last! War Machine on sale and in the shops! This is Forbidden Planet, Bristol. Many thanks to Matt Ford for his entertaining dialogue during my book signing stint. As was to be expected, I was swamped by about ooh a million fans :-) SIGNING IN LONDON 2007
Forbidden Planet, London; signing is a unique and freaky experience!! Many thanks to Kevin, for the sandwiches, the biscuits, and superb coffee (starting to sound like a Tarantino dialogue, this). Note how I soldiered bravely on, through a heavy bout of serious illness (although my wife insists it is simply "ManFlu"). Check out www.forbiddenplanet.com NOVACON37, WALSALL, 2007
REM meets SF legend Ian Watson and is regaled by tales of working with Kubrick. Shortly afterwards, Watson reads REM's QUAKE and leaves the building at a dead run, having had his eccentricity and sanity tested. And that's saying something! www.ianwatson.info
REM meets another SF hero, Ken MacLeod. REM later attended a MacLeod "kafeeklatch" workshop, and was suitably impressed with how Ken dealt with idiots. A scholar and a gentleman, then. kenmacleod.blogspot.com
REM with his noble editor, Christian Dunn. REM's attention is focused on the photographer, and here he is! Ian Sales. Thanks for the photos, Ian. Although be sure your subjects actually want to be photographed first! www.solarisbooks.com
The obligatory "curry with publishers" shot. Note Christian Dun and Mark Newton hiding away at the back. Also note Ian Watson apparently sending Donna Scott [editor of Visionary Tongue] to sleep. Check out Visionary Tongue here.
The morning after the night before. Most science fiction conventions look like this. Note distinct absence of people dressed as Klingons. Ha! America, this ain't.
REM on a panel with Eric Brown, Ian Watson and Charlie Stross. The topic was Optimism in British SF. Well, that's me fucked then. Ian and Charlie were particularly eloquent. I, however, was simply hung-over. Who thinks up these damn panel topics anyway? Why couldn't we discuss guns in SF? Android sex? AI? Or hypocritics? Maybe next year... Check out the unstoppable juggernaut that is Mr Stross here. WORLDCON, GLASGOW 2005
REM, Juliette Mckenna and Ian Graham on the Orbit Stand at Worldcon, 2005. Note the air of frisky creativity surrounding such talented individuals! Check out Ian Graham here, and Juliette McKenna here.
REM, Ian Irvine and Ian Graham enjoying some brotherly love at Worldcon, 2005. I won't say what Ian I thought of Pratchett. It wasn't very polite. Check out Ian Irvine here. |
